A professional development workshop with Mark Ansorg

“U – How Beautiful Dortmund Is: New Perspectives on the City” is a one-day professional development workshop organised by the Hartware MedienKunstVerein (HMKV) and led by Mark Ansorg. The workshop is limited to 12 participants.

Every day we experience our city—its pace, its character and its urban fabric. But what happens when we change our point of view? What does the city look like upside down, from ground level, or from unexpected angles and hidden corners? How does our perception of the city change when we shift our perspective?

Working together with the participants and the camera, this workshop explores the Dortmunder U and its surroundings while developing ideas for incorporating artistic photography into the classroom or other educational group settings. Participants will learn key camera settings and photographic techniques, discover how photography can sharpen the eye, and explore the new perspectives on the city that the camera lens can reveal. The workshop encourages participants to consider how photography can be integrated as an artistic medium into educational practice in schools and other learning environments.

The workshop welcomes trainee and practising teachers, educators, early childhood educators and art teachers, as well as geography teachers interested in using photography with their students to explore and better understand urban structures.

Cameras will be provided, and refreshments and lunch are included.
