Tom McCarthy’s novel Remainder explores the theme of re-enactment – the historically accurate reconstruction of past events – against the backdrop of catastrophe and trauma. His debut novel, published in 2005, has already been translated into numerous languages and is currently being adapted for the screen.

On 15 December 2007, Tom McCarthy will speak with Inke Arns at KW about Remainder and the history of repetition and its mediation in Western literature from the Renaissance to the present day.
