Sat 06.05.2023 Workshop: Nature Writing

“Nature Writing” is a literary genre of fictional or non-fictional description of nature. Initially found mainly in Anglo-Saxon countries, it is increasingly gaining importance in German-speaking countries. Nature writing does not describe a firmly defined genre, but includes travelogues, essays, poetic text forms, and reflections on nature. The texts go beyond a mere description of untouched nature and are also dedicated to nature that has been worked on by humans, such as can be found in the Ruhr area in the form of slag heaps, reservoirs or wastelands.

In the workshop with Marion Poschmann, participants will learn more about nature writing and create their own texts.

Marion Poschmann, born in Essen in 1969, studied German and Slavic studies and now lives in Berlin. She has received numerous awards for her prose and poetry, among them the “Deutsche Preis für Nature Writing” (2017), the “Bremer Literaturpreis” (2021) and most recently the “Joseph-Breitbach-Preis” (2023).
