Workshop: Machinima - mit Computerspielen neue Welten erschaffen
11:00 – 18:00
Dortmunder U | Ebene 2
Free admission
A workshop organised by the Hartware MedienKunstVerein as part of the Japan Media Arts Festival, exploring the creative potential of computer games, for a maximum of 15 participants aged 10 and over.
This two-day workshop aims to show participants aged 10 and over that in a computer game, you don’t always have to follow the rules and the objective, and that you can create your own story within the game world. ‘Machinima’ – a portmanteau of ‘machine’ and ‘cinema’ – refers to films produced using computer games. Players film the actions of their virtual character within a game, add sound to the clip and edit the whole thing together into a film. In addition, Matthias Löwe and Kathrin Joswig – who, together with the Creative Gaming initiative, champion the artistic and creative use of computer games – will demonstrate how you can programme your own small computer games step by step.
