Exkursion zur E-CULTURE FAIR
10:00 – 21:00
Belgien | Hasselt
Free admission
On Wednesday, 16 November 2011, we invite all interested parties and friends of the HMKV to take part in a day trip to the E-CULTURE FAIR in Hasselt, Belgium. The fair, which took place for the first time in Germany last year (at the Dortmunder U) as a collaborative project with ISEA2010 RUHR, showcases innovative projects in the fields of media art, the creative industries and research. The excursion departs at 10.00 am from Dortmund bus station (return at approx. 9.00 pm); the cost is €25 per person (flat-rate travel fee). Please register by Thursday, 10 November, at info@hmkv.de.
The term ‘e-culture’ was introduced in the Netherlands in the late 1990s and refers to the impact of digitalisation on the production, presentation and dissemination of culture. Electronic culture is now omnipresent in our everyday lives. The routine use of digital information and communication technologies such as YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, as well as the use of smartphones, demonstrates the ubiquity of e-culture. In keeping with our digital age, the E-CULTURE FAIR serves as a communicative laboratory where international artists, designers and creative professionals can present their forward-looking works and ideas.
Combining an exhibition with an open workshop, the E-CULTURE FAIR features not only workshops, guided tours and live presentations, but also prototypes and demos that visitors can try out and experience for themselves.
