This essayistic group exhibition is dedicated to artistic works and theories that link the cosmos – and the sun in particular – with social and political movements. Is there, for example, a connection between increased solar activity (a rise in sunspots and solar winds) and earthly revolutions? And what speculative, imaginative reflections on this theme can be found in contemporary art and poetry?
Among the works by international artists, there is a focus on the moving image – on cinema, film and video as media of light. But the works in other media, too, radiate hypnotic, feverish, glowing and menacing emotions.
