On Friday evening and Sunday evening (30 May and 1 June 2008), HMKV presents the video programme “Abstracts of Syn” (published as part of the Edition Medienturm series). The programme is curated and presented by Sandro Droschl, artistic director of Medienturm Graz.

In the field of experimental intermedia contemporary art, the synaesthetic connection between sound and image has become increasingly prominent. Through a selection of commissioned works, the Graz-based art association Medienturm presents a younger generation of artists who have established a growing international reputation in this field.

The selected works reveal an engagement with an abstract and conceptual approach to artistic production. Precise visual structures encounter finely interwoven sound compositions, creating complex audio-visual experiences.
